Excuse my absence for weeks my dear friends, but it had been very busy in this household. With two students and final exams. Plus the events I had been covering. Especially the running events which always mean 3am call times...And we're back. The final week of March. Final exams. For my pre-schooler this would also mean their Pretend Day. Each student dresses up as what they want to be when they grow up. Little kiddo declared..."Mama, I wanna be a rock star!" ..." and a princess, teacher and fairy." Oh my little munchkin, you go girl!!! I keep telling my little girls, they can be whatever they want as long as it won't hurt them. If my 5-year-old wants to be a rock star/princess/teacher/fairy when she grows up, well, she will be!
We have planned her costume weeks prior. She has this blouse, this pants, this shoes, and viola! Well...it wasn't as easy and as breezy as we thought it would be. The thought of her costume barely made me sleep a wink the night before. Finally, the morning of the Pretend Day I stared hard at what my girl was wearing. Something was just off.
"Darling, you just sit there and mama's gonna go back upstairs to fix your costume, okay?" In a flash I was holding her white camisole, black 3 -tiered lace skirt I got from a flee market a day ago and pink flower shoes. I knew that rose decor on her old headband was just what we needed to be a certified rock star. Quicker than you could say 'Coco Chanel' that rose was on her white camisole...

Isn't she just so lovely?
And oh, let's not forget the sponsored pink glittery microphone.

As always, costumes for us are always big productions. But I always try to source everything out from our own closets. To be fab, you don't need to be expensive...or stressed. Ahihi...

Yeah, Instagram. Who isn't doing it nowadays, right? hehehe. So today was flu shot day. We live in the heart of the city and drove to South Gen Hospital in Naga. About a 45-minute drive on the weekend. Yes very far by any standards, considering there are numerous pediatricians just right around the corner. It's a choice actually. To be with a friend doctor. Flu shot is going to hurt. Not cheap too. So might as well let a friend do it. Ahihihi...

Whatever horror stories you've been hearing from non believers, please take some moments to think. A flu shot will do some good. It may not be a 100% guarantee, but wouldn't it be better if our little kids (and us adults) have a chance of not getting the flu this year at all?
Flu shot does hurt, I'm not going to sugarcoat the whole process. It stings. But it will be worth it. A treat for the little kiddos after being stung by a "big mosquito" called the syringe. Oh don't get me wrong, fastfood is fastfood and it's not really that "beneficial". But I give my kids some treat once in awhile. Moment like this.

And this is my treat. I got my flu shot too. Oh it hurt.

At last now she's smiling...
Been a crazy part two weeks. Hubby went down with one terrible flu. And it's different when it's the man of the house who gets knocked out. I just didnt quite know what to do. Every day we monitored his complete blood count. Yep, poor dearie had to have a big shot every day. Thankfully his condition improved on the 5th day. The 5th day!!! Imagine our anxiety the past days...
The weather is just crazy! 33.6 degrees!!! We need to hydrate! Liquids liquids, any kind of liquids!!! And any type of illness or weakness should not be taken for granted. Sometimes taking care of a younger person is way easier. They are just all too happy to be taken care of you and follow every instructions just to please you. But oh, not so much with the adults...hahahaha! Oh my dear hubby, it was a challenge getting you back to health. And we are just all too glad you are up and about now.
Our recent travel abroad fueled our anxiety even more. No telling what we got there and brought home...
Did I say hubby fell ill the very same morning I had a really bad asthma attack? Yep we went to our own separate doctors and met at the laboratory. Sweet ha? Ahihihi. All's well that ends well.
Except of course when little 8-year-old is suddenly sent home from school due to high fever. The very day hubby and I have just began to go back to our normal daily routine.
Tonsilitis. It's the sweets. Again. Yep, those bacteria, normally loitering our throats, they love the sweets. They feed on them. Then they do havoc to our throats...health. 3 days before our yearly flu shots. The thought scares me, but we just gotta have them. Yes mommies, contrary to those popular 'anti-vaccine' witch hunt even the most educated are trying to convince the vaccine believers, I'm telling you... we need our flu shots!
Kiddos, don't despair, it is just but normal to have your occasional candies. What's being a kid without them right? But we need to take in liquids liquids liquids! ...gargle. Philippines is having some crazy hot weather the past week, we gotta hydrate! You don't need some designer water bottles to log around. Get whatever you can, (then of course, it would be cool to start with a recycle water bottle to start with...) and HYDRATE!!!
Here's a pleasant summer to all my friends!
Take care everyone!
